Climate-Smart Agriculture in times of water shortage and water quality challenges

A California-Netherlands Seminar

Tuesday, November 29, 2016
9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

UC DAVIS

Opening Welcome

UC Davis teams up with the Global Alliance for Climate-Smart Agriculture to share California research stories

Netherlands Agricultural Minister Martijn van Dam and CDFA Secretary Karen Ross delivered the opening remarks

The current prolonged drought and water quality issues in California highlight a number of challenges related to the water-food-nutrient nexus. This seminar focuses on the need for smart, innovative and sustainable solutions on a variety of scales, from plot level to complete watershed.

The seminar is part of an ongoing partnership in Climate-Smart Agriculture with the World Food Center, the Consulate General of the Netherlands and the California Departments of Water Resources (DWR) and Food and Agriculture (CDFA). UC Davis has been a member of the Global Alliance for Climate-Smart Agriculture since the first scientific conference in 2011, having also hosted the 2013 conference and co-sponsored the 2015 event.

The event will be followed by lunch and networking.
