Sutapa Agrawal

Sutapa Agrawal is a Population Scientist. She obtained her Masters in Population Sciences (MPS) and doctoral degree in Population Studies from the International Institute for Population Sciences, Mumbai, along with being a postgraduate in geography from Presidency University, Kolkata. A thorough professional with a proactive attitude, Agrawal has more than seven years of professional experience in designing demographic and epidemiological research studies, performing higher-level statistical data analysis, training and capacity building besides being actively and extensively engaged in non-communicable disease (NCD) prevalence and risk factor research to improve public health in India. In addition to publications in reputed international and national level peer reviewed journals in the area of chronic NCD, population and women’s reproductive health and gender issues, she has participated and presented research papers in many scientific forums.

Agrawal has been honored with several awards. She is currently associated with the South Asia Network for Chronic Disease (SANCD), Public Health Foundation of India based at New Delhi, India in the capacity of an Epidemiologist. Prior to joining SANCD, she worked as an assistant professor at the International Institute of Health Management Research (IIHMR), New Delhi and as a research scientist at the National Institute of Medical Statistics (NIMS), Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), New Delhi, India. Agrawal’s current areas of research interest is the epidemiology of chronic non-communicable diseases, such as diabetes, asthma, hypertension, mental health in India and chronic disease risk factor studies that include lifestyle, diet, nutrition, physical activity and women and child health.


Keegan Kautzky

Keegan's life is focused on inspiring students to solve the biggest problems in the world. The farmboy-turned-hunger fighter leads the national expansion of the World Food Prize Foundation's education programs, building partnerships and programs across America to educate and prepare the next generation of young agricultural, scientific and humanitarian leaders.

Raised on his family's mixed crop and cattle farm in Iowa, Keegan established Youth in Action while in high school, to encourage teens' involvement in community service, and then founded Pages of Promise while in college, an organization that collects used textbooks to rebuild schools and libraries in sub-Saharan Africa. A conversation with Norman Borlaug (1970 Nobel Peace Prize winner & father of the Green Revolution) changed his life, and he spent the next six years in South Africa, India, Washington, D.C., and Malawi, learning and working on food security and sustainable agriculture projects, women's empowerment initiatives, public health and economic research, human rights monitoring and refugee advocacy.

Keegan has a bachelor's degree in Political Science from Iowa State University, as well as master's in International Development Studies and a master's in Public Health from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa. He has worked with the World Agroforestry Centre, Refugees International, the International Organization for Migration, Nav Jeevan Nivas Home for Orphan Children, United Nations Industrial Development Organization and the Rural Public Health and Health Transitions Research Unit.


Karen Lapsley

Karen Lapsley, Almond Board

Since August 1999, Lapsley has managed the nutrition and food research programs and established the scientific rational and the research network that has made science based global messaging standard practice at the Almond Board of California. Lapsley also has oversight for the production and environmental research ABC, and their integration into ABC’s sustainability programs.

Previous experience included progressive research and management responsibilities in government and food industry and teaching. Lapsley's degrees are in food science/engineering, in Canada and Switzerland. She was born and raised in Montreal, Canada, and speaks French and German. When she’s not thinking about almonds and travelling, she enjoys sailing and scuba diving with her husband and staying home.
