Known as the Nobel of food and agriculture, the World Food Prize for the first time ever featured a UC Davis-led panel discussion on stage this week. WFC Founding Director Roger Beachy led the talk with UC Davis professors Christine Stewart and Daniel Sumner and Joseph Glauber, from the International Food Policy Research Institute, a WFC partner in food and water.
The discussion covered the findings from a workshop Beachy organized in May, 2015, at UC Davis, called “Food for a Healthy World: Monitoring Progress Towards Food Security.” The workshop sought to develop a roadmap for identifying the challenges to global nutritional health.
The "fields of expertise ranged from across the entirety of the food spectrum," said Beachy at the World Food Prize panel. "How do you measure progress and engage the next generation of entrepreneurs and STEM scientists in this battle?"
