Aligning the Food System

In 2019, the World Food Center will host a workshop series entitled Aligning the Food System that will bring together industry, government, nonprofit, and university experts around key areas of food and agriculture to assess present and future challenges, identify best practices, and provide comprehensive recommendations for research and policy directions. Each selected workshop will:

  • Involve two or more campus entities (e.g., departments, centers, and institutes) as co-hosts, who will collaboratively design their workshop's program and invite key experts and stakeholders in their field.
  • Garner attendance from 40-50 experts in the workshop's topic from academic, policy, business, and NGO settings, including at least 20 guests from external organizations.
  • Generate an outcome beneficial for the workshop hosts, guests, and the general public, such as a white paper or collaborative grant proposal.

The World Food Center has issued a request for proposals for potential Aligning the Food System workshops and will provide communications, logistics, and financial support of up to $25,000 for selected engagements. Proposals are due by October 1, 2018 and selected workshops will be announced by the end of the calendar year.
